EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Dear Friends,

Warmest greetings from the women of Bethune House Migrant Women’s Refuge!

We are writing to you to appeal for urgent help for the survival of the shelter and its continued
services to its residents.

Currently, Bethune House shelters 44 women domestic workers who have ongoing labor and police cases that include cases of physical abuse and indecent assault.

As of this period, the shelter does not have enough funds to sustain its operations especially during the first quarter of 2010.

Hence, we are in the process of applying for a permit for a public solicitation that would start in December 2009. Public Solicitation is a fund-raising event that solicits donations from the public in designated areas, date and time approved by the Social Welfare Department.

We would greatly appreciate if you could allot some of your time to volunteer for an hour or two either in Central Piers, in Kowloon or in Causeway Bay. Your assistance will greatly help the 44 women sheltered at Bethune House to continue to survive in Hong Kong and attend to their cases.
