EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS
HELP THE MISSION

Dear Friends,

Warmest greetings from your Mission For Migrant Workers!

Since 1981, the MFMW has been one of the leading providers of services to foreign workers in Hong Kong and a staunch advocate of migrants’ rights and welfare locally and internationally.

Crisis Intervention and Prevention through Migrant Empowerment (CIPME) is its main focus which is a comprehensive and intensive approach in addressing the immediate and urgent needs of the “migrants in crisis” while advancing the central aim of migrant worker empowerment.

This is carried out in four specific MFMW programs, namely: Legal Employment and Assistance Program (LEAP); Pastoral Care and Social Welfare Program (PCSW); Education, Training, Organizing and Campaign Program (ETOC); and Documentation, Research and Information Dissemination (DRID).

To maintain these programs, however, we need financial and material support. Hence, we are in the process of applying for a permit for a public solicitation for three months starting from October until December 2010. Public Solicitation is a fund-raising event that solicits donations from the public in designated areas, date and time approved by the Social Welfare Department.

We would greatly appreciate if you could allot some of your time to volunteer for an hour or two either in Central Piers, in Kowloon or in Causeway Bay for this purpose.

Your assistance will greatly help the clients who come to the MFMW for assistance under any of our programs.

We have attached the enlistment forms for your consideration. We hope you could also send it to your friends and networks. Please send it back by email: mission@migrants.net or fax to 2526-2894.

We sincerely hope for your positive reply to our appeal.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Ca Abdon-Tellez
Mission Manager
